Cascading Lists

Notes:

Cascading Lists

Sometimes in an application, the values from one list need to be used to filter out records from another list. In this example, an employee is assigned to a manager and a department. In most cases, after the employee has been assigned to the department, you only want employees from that department to appear as managers in the list.

When you navigate to different rows in the result set, you can see the lists automatically change to reflect the current department for the current employee. If you change an employee’s department by choosing a different department name from the list, you will notice that when you select the Mgr list, the set of choices is automatically updated to reflect the new department.
