Using Contextual Events: Step 1

Although they do not need to be performed exactly in order, defining a contextual event requires several steps as explained in this and the following slides:

1. Create the container, producer, and consumer: If you have two regions on a containing page that you want to coordinate by using contextual events, you first need to decide which is the producer and which is the consumer. For example, you may want the data in the consumer region to display differently depending on what is clicked in the producer region, such as displaying products or categories when the user clicks a subcategory or a root category in a category tree (this is the example that is used in the course application).
